Oil Clears $100 After Saudi East–West Pipeline Pause
Brent pushed back above $100 a barrel after Saudi Arabia temporarily shut its East–West pipeline following drone hits that Riyadh links to launches from Iraq. The line normally moves several million barrels a day from Gulf fields to the Red Sea — a key workaround while Hormuz traffic stays constrained.
Officials called the stop a safety step after damage and injuries near Riyadh and Medina. With Bab el-Mandeb also under pressure, exporters have few clean routes left; Asia faces longer hauls and Europe feels it through the crude price and downstream costs.
Baghdad dismissed a commander in Maysan and closed a border crossing with Iran while hunting suspects. Saudi Arabia says it is holding fire for now at Iraq’s request, but keeps the option of stronger measures if attacks from Iraqi soil continue.
